.002 Video/Text

VIDEO:

[Nearly three weeks he’s spent in Luceti, and in that time, the war back home has been a constant concern on his mind. While his roles here may not matter, it’s a mentality he can’t entirely escape. Especially considering just how many from his world are here. So, with a Kazekage mentality, he opens his journal and fiddles with it until he’s figured out the video selection. Maybe one day he'll realize there's a filter option.]

To those of you who recognize me as Kazekage, I would like to address you.

[And he’ll pause for just a moment.]

I’m aware that our memories from home vary, but I believe everyone is familiar with the war that the Shinobi Alliance was currently engaged in. I cannot say that have been victorious yet, but I have faith in our abilities and our strength.

If you are curious as to the details I have before I arrived here, I will answer any questions I can. But I did want to share one thing with everyone here.

The past Hokage have arrived to support our efforts in battle, and I had the privilege of hearing the Shodai Hokage. He made a plea to all of us to bring his dreams to fruition, to bring together our pain, our sufferings, and our discouragement, to show him his dream of a time when all shinobi cooperate with each other, where their hearts are together regardless of country.

It was a proud moment when we could show him that dream come true.

I would like to believe that those effects, the promises and alliances made in such a time of trial and tribulation will not end when the threat does. And while we are far from home and that war now, as Kazekage, as Gaara of the Desert, as your friend and ally, I still hold to those beliefs and while I am here, I will protect and help in any way I am capable.

For the weeks, months, and years that have passed for some of you here, as distant a memory as the war may be in your thoughts, keep the promises and hope of it close to you.

TEXT:
[Having taken care of Kazekage business, he still has one more role he feels he needs to fulfill. That of a worried little brother with a sick sister. So a few moments after his speech, he adds a written note for everyone.]

For anyone with the knowledge, I would appreciate any information regarding the care of the physically ill. Methods, medications, proper foods.

Also, for possible future reference, how to properly deal with cuts and minor injuries that don’t require a medic nin or use of …white magic.

[Pilouette eagerly answers when she sees his message. Finally a chance to put her first aid training to use...!]

Little cuts and things like that aren't too hard to take care of. Wash it with some soap and water or something and put a bandage on it.

[However, illnesses and the like aren't the kind of thing her lessons covered. She thinks she might be able to help anyway, but there are a lot of kinds of physically ill and she wants to know if she'll know what she's talking about before trying to answer.]

When you say physically ill, do you mean a cold or something?

[To Pilouette it sounds to her like a run-of-the-mill cold. She takes a few moments to try and think of whatever useful information she knows before replying.]

Well, they say that people need a lot of rest to recover from being sick, so sleeping a lot is probably alright if she's sick. Since she's cold, warm foods are probably best. Soup, warm tea...stuff like that. Lots of fluids, too. For the aches, simple painkillers will probably work, like aspirin or something. Does she have a fever or anything?

[However, she's not exactly a medical professional and doesn't feel completely confident in what she's saying. So just in case...]

Whatever this sickness is, keep an eye on her. If it gets worse, she might need to visit the clinic. The doctor there knows a lot more than I do about sicknesses and stuff.

Well, just feel her forehead and if it feels hotter than it should, she might have a fever. An ice pack or a wet washcloth can help bring it down a little bit.

But if you're being told not to worry, it's probably not anything serious. It sounds like a normal cold. Those are pretty normal around this time of year, I think.

Exactly. It's usually a little worse between seasons when the weather starts changing, I think.

No, I'm not a medic. I'm just studying first aid, so I don't actually know all that much about medical stuff beyond really minor injuries and common sicknesses. That's why I suggested checking with the doctor at the clinic if it got worse.

[She had never thought to use the word "mentor" before, but...she supposes she does have a mentor.]

Yeah, I do. I've been learning from one of the medics that work at the Battledome Clinc. Everything I know about first aid, I learned from her.

I'm not sure. I heard that one of the doctors there does some really intense lessons there sometimes, but I think he teaches the really difficult stuff. The person teaching me is named Mia. I think she has a few other students, but I met her by asking over the journals if anyone could teach me.

I don't know exactly how often she takes on students but if you wanted to ask her, she might be able to teach you some stuff.

The definitely are! I've been able to do a lot more to help people since I started learning.

And don't mention it! Since we're all stuck here together, we all have to help each other out, right?
ribbonbon: (Ahahaa...)

[personal profile] ribbonbon 2013-12-10 09:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well, not a LOT of people. Actually, I've only done any serious first aid work when I was drafted a while ago. But if I hadn't learned that stuff, I probably wouldn't have been able to do anything useful at all.

[There's a short pause before she continues.] I don't know if it's "noble." Helping other people is just what people are supposed to do, right?

[Pilouette thinks about that for a moment . A world where people just...don't help other people out? To be fair, she's sometimes a bit doubtful about her motivations for helping people, but still. Then again...]

Well, maybe it's just me. It's not like everyone where I'm from thinks the same way.

[There's another small pause. She's not sure if she should ask, but...well, she's curious.]

If you don't mind me asking, is people helping each other out really not a common thing where you're from?
ribbonbon: (Hmph)

[That's not something she expected and she's not quite sure what to say.]

So your world was really political? [She pauses for a moment. Gaining power to control other places sounds more "warlike" but...she's not sure that's the best thing to say.] Well, maybe that's not the right word for it. But that has to be totally heavy to deal with, being born for something like that.

Working together, huh? That does sounds really nice. To be honest, I don't really understand politics but where I come from, but it seems like all politicians do is argue about stuff. Maybe someday they'll try to work together where I'm from, too.

But if people are working together in your world, I bet you'll be able to stop that from happening for sure. I can't even imagine what something like that would be like.
