[Nearly three weeks he’s spent in Luceti, and in that time, the war back home has been a constant concern on his mind. While his roles here may not matter, it’s a mentality he can’t entirely escape. Especially considering just how many from his world are here. So, with a Kazekage mentality, he opens his journal and fiddles with it until he’s figured out the video selection. Maybe one day he'll realize there's a filter option.]

To those of you who recognize me as Kazekage, I would like to address you.

[And he’ll pause for just a moment.]

I’m aware that our memories from home vary, but I believe everyone is familiar with the war that the Shinobi Alliance was currently engaged in. I cannot say that have been victorious yet, but I have faith in our abilities and our strength.

If you are curious as to the details I have before I arrived here, I will answer any questions I can. But I did want to share one thing with everyone here.

The past Hokage have arrived to support our efforts in battle, and I had the privilege of hearing the Shodai Hokage. He made a plea to all of us to bring his dreams to fruition, to bring together our pain, our sufferings, and our discouragement, to show him his dream of a time when all shinobi cooperate with each other, where their hearts are together regardless of country.

It was a proud moment when we could show him that dream come true.

I would like to believe that those effects, the promises and alliances made in such a time of trial and tribulation will not end when the threat does. And while we are far from home and that war now, as Kazekage, as Gaara of the Desert, as your friend and ally, I still hold to those beliefs and while I am here, I will protect and help in any way I am capable.

For the weeks, months, and years that have passed for some of you here, as distant a memory as the war may be in your thoughts, keep the promises and hope of it close to you.

[Having taken care of Kazekage business, he still has one more role he feels he needs to fulfill. That of a worried little brother with a sick sister. So a few moments after his speech, he adds a written note for everyone.]

For anyone with the knowledge, I would appreciate any information regarding the care of the physically ill. Methods, medications, proper foods.

Also, for possible future reference, how to properly deal with cuts and minor injuries that don’t require a medic nin or use of …white magic.

Little cuts and things like that aren't too hard to take care of. Wash it with some soap and water or something and put a bandage on it.

[However, illnesses and the like aren't the kind of thing her lessons covered. She thinks she might be able to help anyway, but there are a lot of kinds of physically ill and she wants to know if she'll know what she's talking about before trying to answer.]

When you say physically ill, do you mean a cold or something?

[Kazekage business is all well and good, but it's the text portion that really gets her interest.] What sort of illness? There are some things that are good no matter the situation, but other aspects of treatment need to be tailored to meet the disease, even if it's not serious enough to require immediate medical assistance.

[If it does require immediate medical assistance, she's going to be rather put out if no one told her a shinobi ally of Konoha needs help.]

[It might have been years for him here, but the war is a closer memory than one might think, given his recent return.

Gaara might not appreciate the appearance of a former Akatsuki member, but Itachi needs to ask this.]

And the rest of those brought back with the Edo Tensei. Were they able to be released? I know the Hokage were a special case.

[All shinobi cooperating with each other...it sounds like the kind of peace that she and Nagato had longed to see.

Given her involvement with what had happened to the Kazekage, Konan doesn't feel that she can address him through a video discussion. Not until she's at least had the chance to speak to him in person to apologize for her involvement in removing the tailed beast from his body. She may not have been the one to attack him, but she was involved in the extraction.]

A minorly wounded area of the body should be elevated and direct pressure should be applied with clean bandages or a clean rag. Cold water is also good for reducing blood flow.

If only the shinobi world didn't come together because they HAD to, to beat an enemy. If only it was a natural thing.

[He's been sick for like a month, but not completely out of the loop. Temari had told him Gaara was in Luceti; Tenten too, when he 'spoke' to her on the journals.

There's probably a lot they should discuss, about things in Luceti. Shikamaru hasn't had enough of a voice to talk talk, but he'd been meaning to at least write to the Kazekage over the journals, or something. Now's a good opportunity too, but Shikamaru finds himself distracted by the first part of Gaara's message. He replays it several times.

The mention of the First Hokage-- that's wild. But putting aside the questions about that, it's an event he's entirely unaware of. Gaara must be further in the war than he himself is.

It's confirmation, too, that Gaara is alive. That's... That's a relief. It brings up a lot of questions, but last he knew, no one was certain what the fate of the Kages had been. Madara's presence had many of the shinobi fearing the worst.

Shikamaru responds once he's absorbed that information. He does have questions, but he can't bring himself to ask them just yet.]

How treatable that is depends on if it's a Shift or not.
